गंगा दशहरा 2026

New Delhi, Delhi · IST

Ganga Dussehra 2026 is on 25 May 2026, Monday.

Shukla Dashami: 4:31 AM to 5:11 AM (26 May)

What it is and how it is observed

Ganga Dussehra, Jyeshtha Shukla Dashami, celebrates the descent of the Ganga to earth through Bhagiratha's penance. Devotees bathe in the Ganga, offer lamps and give in charity; the bath is held to wash away ten kinds of sin.

How the date is fixed

Jyeshtha (amanta) Shukla Dashami: tithi prevailing in the forenoon (purvahna).

When Jyeshtha is doubled (an adhika month, as in 2026), Drik Panchang keeps Ganga Dussehra in the adhika Jyeshtha; some almanacs give the nija Jyeshtha date a month later.
